About me
Hey there!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet—I promise it’s mostly bike talk and only slightly unhinged enthusiasm. I’m Sherry Keating, but my friends (and now you) know me as Dr. S. Not because I can save lives (unless you count advising on proper helmet fit), but because my doctoral school buddies thought it had a nice ring to it. Fight On!✌️ I’m not a medical doctor, nor do I play one on the internet, but I am deeply committed to cycling for seniors. So while I won’t prescribe you antibiotics, I will strongly recommend more miles, fewer excuses, and maybe a strategic nap afterward.
If you’re here, chances are you love cycling—or you’re at least curious about it. Either way, welcome! While I enjoy all types of riding—mountain biking, road cycling, you name it—gravel riding has found its way into my heart. I love the shifting terrain and deep connection to nature that keeps me coming back for more. Cycling isn’t just about fitness for me; it’s about freedom, building strength, and staying active in a way that feels fun and sustainable.
I started Wild Spokes because, as a mature-ish adult of a certain age, I realized that a lot of cycling content out there isn’t necessarily geared toward those of us who aren’t 30-year-old speed demons. There’s a whole community of cyclists or soon-to-be-cyclists who want to enjoy the ride, learn at their own pace, and focus on the elements of cycling that actually matter to them. I wanted to create a space where we can talk about everything from gear choices to recovery tips, from epic bikepacking adventures to the simple joy of a weekend ride.
I also wanted to keep this site clean for you. Maybe it’s my age, but I can’t stand it when I’m trying to get some information on cycling and there are a dozen different pop-ups, moving ads, sliding tickers, a dancing clown in a shark suit, and a rogue video playing at full volume. Wild Spokes, despite the name, will be as uncluttered as possible—just good info, no circus acts.
Whether you’re just getting into cycling or you’ve been riding for years, my goal is to share my experiences, reviews, and a few laughs along the way. More importantly, I hope to build a community where we can encourage and inspire each other—because no matter your age, skill level, or riding style, you deserve a space, like Wild Spokes, where your cycling journey is celebrated.
So, grab a cup of coffee, browse around, and feel free to drop me a line if there’s anything I can do to make your experience better.
